The Threat Of Nuclear Energy Essay - 1468 Words

There is often speculation surrounding Nuclear Energy. There were reports that the British applied to the United States for permission to carry out their first atomic bomb in the flats of Nevada. These reports were met with much speculation due to the physical size and observable flaws in the British program. Many countries pursue Nuclear energy for weaponry or other status symbols. When Nuclear Energy is harnessed it can have a significant effect. Developments in Nuclear energy have had a great impact on global carbon emissions and have significantly decreased the footprint that energy production leaves on the environment. The progress that the American West and other Developing nations have made in nuclear energy provide a reliable alternative to other energy sources that increase carbon emissions. Nuclear energy has been successful in decreasing the pollution created by energy production. Energy production takes a tremendous tole on our environment, from the industrialization of western countries such as America and Britain, to the extreme pollution being expelled by China today, the amount of carbon being released is extremely harmful. Nuclear energy produces virtually no carbon emissions (World moving in Wrong Direction). Economic Growth - Inflation And Unemployment 3 Pillars of Economy

Question: Describe about the Economic Growth, Inflation and Unemployment? Answer: Introduction The three pillars of any economy are the indicators that ensure the stable situation. These three pillars are the economic growth, inflation rate and unemployment. Economic growth ensures that there is low unemployment and low inflation rates. There is an inverse relationship between growth and unemployment .there also exist an inverse relationship between the level of unemployment and the rate of inflation. This is depicted by the Phillips curve. This tradeoff between the two relevant indicators of the economy is repeatedly exploited by the policy makers. In short, the implementation of the macroeconomic policies is dependent on these three economic factors which in turn are interdependent. (TEMIN) Measurements: The economic growth is measured by the rate at which the percentage change in the quantity of goods and services produced vary from year to year. In other words it measures the growth rate of real GDP. For comparing the economic welfare by comparing international output and business cycle forecasting, real GDP is used. Economic welfare measures the economic well being. (Mankiw) The ideal measurement of inflation is the Consumer Price Index (CPI). It is a weighted index of price which captures the monthly change in the prices covering goods and services of over 600 varieties. The inflation is calculated by the percentage change in the price index over the years. This measurement ensures the level of price changes within an economy for a period of time. Another measure of inflation that needs to be mentioned is the Producer Price Index (PPI). It measures the average price level of a combination of resources that are needed by the producer for production like capital, rent and raw materials for the manufacturing of the consumer goods. The influence of PPI on the inflation is quicker than the influence of CPI. The most popular measurement of unemployment in the economy is the unemployment rate. It is estimated on the basis of two set of surveys on labor force. The first is the Current Population Survey (CPS) which is a survey is approached and based on 60,000 sample households and measures the unemployment rate based on the definition of the International Labor Organization. The second is the Current Employment Statistics Survey (CES) which is the payroll survey is estimated on 160,000 sample businesses representing around 400,00 workers. (Gottheil) Indicators: The economic indicators of the economic growth are established by the macroeconomic identity. The macroeconomic identity calculates the real GDP based on the consumption expenditure of the household, government expenditure, gross fixed capital formation and the net exports which include the exports and imports. All these factors constitute the level of real GDP in the economy and thereby indicate the level of economic growth. (Stats.oecd.org) The rate of inflation is indicated by its impact on the economy. The rate of inflation weakens the purchasing power of the consumers. Indicators of inflation include the unchecked growth in the in the economy. This fast economic growth implies that there is extra money in the economy which will increase the purchasing power of the consumers which in turn will raise the overall price and increase the wage rate. Also inflation can be initiated by the rise in the price of a single item like energy, oil etc. which will create a repercussion and tend to increase the overall level of price thereby causing inflation. (Bankofcanada.ca) There are several indicators of unemployment out of which the most important indicator is the unemployment rate. But the rate of labor force participation at all sectors, for men and women, based on all types of occupation give a vivid knowledge about the unemployment scenario in an economy. The labor force growth also helps to identify the level of unemployment in the economy. Current statistics and future prospects: The GDP is expected to grow at 3.3% from 2.4% in the year 2014. This is mainly due the increased consumer spending which augmented the investment creating new production capacity. The employment rate is expected to be stagnant in terms of monthly job gains in 2015 to around average of 260,000 which is equal to the job growth in 2014. But there is a likely increase in the work opportunity by improvement in the construction, food and housing market. The rate of inflation is expected to remain low. CPI will rise by 1.5% in 2015 as compared to the 0.8% increase in 2014. But the inflation rate will still be below the inflation target of 2%. Oil prices predicted to remain low. (www.kiplinger.com) Conclusion The acceleration or deceleration of the economy is connected to the three dynamic indicators. There is a three way relationship among them which cannot be avoided when analyzing the economic situation of the country. The impact of inflation and unemployment on the economic growth can be calculated based on the different measurement of the three indicators. Thus all macroeconomic policy has to rely on the interaction between economic growth, inflation and unemployment. References Bankofcanada.ca,. 'Inflation Indicators'. N.p., 2015. Web. 7 Mar. 2015. Mrs Fields Cookies Essay Example

Mrs Fields Cookies Paper When doing business in the retail industry, one thing many people take for granted is the service aspect. Not only are you selling a product or multitude of various products, but you are also selling a service, which includes helping customers, being friendly, and making sure they enjoy their day. This is exactly what Debbi Fields is an expert at. She stated, I will also tell you that, to me, Ive never felt like I was in the cookie business. Ive always been in a feel good feeling business. My job is to sell joy. My job is to sell happiness. My job is to sell an experience. Debbi took her people skills and turned them into money-making skills despite having an original agenda of baking great cookies. When she was convinced otherwise, the company exploded and her need to be able to control every store became impossible. That is where her husband came into play the most, and his integration of an information system into the strategy. More important than monitoring the stores basic business functions was the preservation of the factors that made the stores a success in the first place Debbi Fields marketing techniques. Her experience was captured in expert systems that every store could access at any time, via Retail Operations Intelligence systems. (Newquist, 1990) The implementation of the Retail Operations Intelligence (ROI) was perfectly parallel with Mrs. Fields business objectives and beliefs. As stated earlier, she believed employees should spend their time focusing on the customer and ensuring an enjoyable visit. The ROI system simplified the paperwork process and significantly cut the amount of time that managers would need to spend in the office analyzing numbers or doing interviews. Substitute products still exist just as they did before the use of Mrs. Fields Cookies and their ROI system. Consumers have the option of eating anything else as they did before: sit-down restaurants, fast food, food courts at a mall (since it is the first major location of Mrs. Fields Cookies), ice cream shops, or people could choose not to eat at the time at all. Competition between firms included many of the niche market business mentioned above as shopping malls represented the largest source of spontaneous business for specialty stores. Competition for the most favorable mall locations next to large apparel stores, as opposed to the food court was fierce. As most malls had few such locations, developers were selective about the stores they allowed outside the food courts. The ROI system did not have a great influence on bargaining power for buyers. They still have the option to pay the price that Mrs. Fields Cookies are sold for or choose not to buy. Of course, if more customers choose not to buy, the employees will seek out potential customers to give samples too, which in turn is giving the buyer some power because they can receive the product at times for no price at all. The companys use of an IS system did not have any affect on how they dealt with suppliers. The suppliers hold the power due to the loyalty to the original vendors by Mrs. Fields. This is evident by her $6.6 million purchase of chocolate from the same supplier the company had used on its first day of business. This decision truly showed Debbis way of thinking when doing business, whether it be selling cookies or buying the ingredients. She liked being treated like she was the only customer and thats the way she treated her customers. The uses of the ROI system by managers can be attributed as strengths to Mrs. Fields Cookies, because managers can work closely with their employees and meet and greet customers instead of spending ours doing monotonous office work. The strategic goal of the IS area, according to Randy Fields, was to put as much decision making and intelligence into the store level PC as is necessary to free the manager to do those thing that uniquely people do. Weaknesses can also arise from the dependent uses of the system by managers. If security or availability isnt kept up to the fullest, the system could be at risk. Would the managers be able to successfully run the store without having to depend on the ROI system? The development of Randis system can greatly increase the productivity as it relates to the value chain. One aspect that is improved is Inbound Logistics; most notably the inventory control. If Mrs. Fields Cookies has a strict policy against leaving baked cookies unsold for more than two hours, the amount of inventory has to be controlled to a reasonable level so that revenue numerous batches of cookies are not being lost due to not being sold. The Sales/Marketing aspect can also be increased by having the manager be more involved in the employee activities and face-to-face confrontations with customers. The company has since taken advantage of their system and formed Fields Software Group Inc. in 1988 to develop and market the ROI system. Since then, 8 companies, including Burger King Corp., have agreed to purchase the system. (Personnel Journal, 1991) This business action was needed due to a few failures (which have been since corrected) which include the opposition of franchising, bad financial decisions, the acquisition of LPB, and partial miss-use of the IS. The company did not do enough research when they decided to go public on the London Exchange and it showed as they were not very successful, with much of the doubt concerning the lack of will to franchise. They also did not properly integrate with the acquisition of LPB and consequently suffered at the time. And lastly, as was covered before, the use of IS deskilled the work force and they were dependant on the system alone for decision making. To extend her vision Mrs. Fields decided to start franchising the business in 1990Its now the rarest of franchise opportunities. A new dynamic opportunity thats backed by name recognition and approval from worldwide consumers. (mrsfields.com, 2004) The franchise company Mrs. Fields Famous Brands now includes many household businesses including Mrs. Fields Original Cookies, TCBY, Pretzel Time, Great American Cookies, and Pretzelmaker. Debbi Fields has taken a childhood love for cookies and developed it into an extremely successful business by focusing on a specific niche market and utilizing customers instincts for snacks. She also implemented numerous new or at least uncommon business strategies as she states herself, And so the difference was bringing, in essence, something that was considered a commodity and making it unique and different. And the best way I did that was what I call try and buy, letting people try it with the opportunity that if they like it, theyd actually make a purchase.

Siera Fitzhugh Essays - Drug Policy Of The United States

Siera Fitzhugh Jennifer Vinsky English 002 February 20, 2018 The New Jim Crow Michelle Alexander, the author of "The New Jim Crow " takes a look at how discrimination is still and, in some ways , discrimination ha s gotten more conspicuous over the years . Alexander argues, "The criminal justice system was strategically employed to force African-Americans back into a system of extreme repression and control, a tactic that would continue to prove successful for generations to come " , (Alexander pg.34) and demonstrate s how many practices and beliefs from slavery times are just classified differently now. The labeling make s legal discrimination, but most people disregard it because it is covered with words such as "criminals," in order to legally enslave and separate an unhesitating represent of people. Language is everything and how you label it deviate s the way people judge it. This discrimination is in manifold areas of the U.S. authority. Alexander describes how dis crimination is still current in employment, education, the housing market, and voting rights. Alexander reveal s these discrimination practices by compar ing them to modern government systems to the old-fashioned Jim Crow laws. Alexander thinks that the racial caste system is basically the same, the only thing that has changed is what we call it today. Throughout the Alexander's book, her biggest argumentation on this new system is incarceration specifically. She uses a few admirable points to justify her claims. Alexander consult about the "War on Drugs." Alexander says that the "War on Drugs", is a policy put into effect through Reagan's reign in, increased African American imprisonment. Alexander also individualize that the "War on Drugs" was launched during a period where illegal drug usage was going down. As cocaine spreads rapidly throughout the unsatisfactory black communities' arrest and convictions were on the rise for drug offences. Alexander stated, "The impact of the drug war has been astounding. In less than thirty years, the U.S. penal population exploded from around 300,000 to more than 2 million, with drug convictions accounting for the majority of the increase (Alexander pg. 4)." All those arrests hardly received any helpful legal representation and a lot of people were forced into , according to Alexander . In my opinion, the War of Drugs is a war that is target ing blacks and other minorities as well as the poor across all racial demographics . Alexander shows how the CIA confessed that revolution ary armies in Nicaragua were smuggling drugs into the United States. They also acknowledged to not tolerate law enforcement to investigate the illegal drug networks. Most drug dealers, crack heads, or any other injurious names at the time were characterized as being "black". As stated by Alexander 's studies, it shows that all races use and sell illegal drugs about the same rank as African Americans do . She also uses surveys that state that youthful white Americans are more probable to be involved with drug crimes. This explains how the statistics are not represented inside of the U.S. prisons, which shows that there is a definite target on confine people of color. These are things many slaves did not have in the United States. Alexander makes a lot of good points and I agree with most of her book. I love the point that she compelled concerning President Barrack Obama. She discussed about how just because we have an African American president does not indicate that this country has conquered the concept of race. Race is a common fact whether we like to admit it or not. I feel as if that the modern Jim Crow system is still in effect even if there are African Americans that are barring to the regulation. Just like the original Jim Crow was used to guide the progression of African Americans and used as a system of lawful distinction, the recent Jim Crow uses those exact same concepts and just diversify the term we use. One race can't be more devoted to illegal activities than another race unless there is another factor involved. We are all the same. I agree with Alexander on the point of Barrack Obama not being an element to disprove the New Jim

I met my student advisor Research Paper Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 750 words

I met my student advisor - Research Paper Example This was because I was still studying the university requirement courses; I had opted to do this so I could experience university academic life as well as improve in my communication skills as well as English. Furthermore, I wanted to explore my options, and I have been auditing classes and trying to gather information about the courses. He said that was a wise thing to do since one should not make a decision without thinking about it at first. Mr. Adams then asked what I really wanted to do with my life and what I liked to do with my free time. I told him that I loved soccer and reading, however, above all my past times, I loved listening to music most. Furthermore, I had taken a few classes in the introduction to music composition, and I enjoyed them immensely. Mr Adams then suggested I major in scinec engineering. He explained that then, I would be able to give back and help those behind if I got a good job me as well inspire them by setting a good example. Mr Adams then told me t hat to qualify as a scinec engineer I had to have some basic knowledge in music, and this was easy since I had studied music extensively before I joined the university both during and after high school. He, however, stressed that apart from music and sound, I must have achieved excellence in math’s, engineering and physical science since the discipline had little to do with music in general and a lot to do with minute aspects of sound from a highly scientific point of view. From a laptop and some fliers, Mr Adams showed me some of the coursework that I could expect to cover before I could qualify in this branch of engineering Acoustics and aerodynamics as well as ultrasonic and noise control. He also showed me profiles of some of the schools alumina who had graduated in the same field; many of them were successful sound engineers and had gone on to become very famous in their fields of expertise. He also told me about the various career choices open to successful graduates of the same these included Residential architect acoustic consultant, and concert hall acoustical designer as well as soundproofing consultants. He showed me pictures of the Walt Disney concert hall, which he considered an epitome of acoustic engineering, he explained to create such a building, one need the assistance of sound engineers, as well as architects. He told d The experience was very illuminating and I intend to pursue scinec engineering up to a masters and PhD level, because of the inspiration as well as objective advice from Mr. Adams. When I told him of my dream to become a pilot, he said that I should not abandon the dream. He explained that all I had to do was to wait until I got my degree and then I could get my certificate through a flying club, or even though the school, which offered the same, then I can embark on accumulating enough flying hours so I could work as a commercial or recreational pilot. A negative aspect of the whole thing was that I would have to choo se which field to specialize in since if I become and engineer and pilot, I will have to choose one in the future. They both required a lot of time for one to specialize and excel which will be an issue if I pursue both. However, I decided I would take time to decide that later when I had both options possibly after graduation. I aspire to become a great and famous person; I believe that for me to do this it is important I embark on a career path that I liked with intrinsic motivation. Mr Adams told me that this way, I would be

CRITICAL CONTEXTS of LAW- STORY( answer the questions) Essay

CRITICAL CONTEXTS of LAW- STORY( answer the questions) - Essay Example In turn, this conflict is further mirrored by the confusion regarding the difference between a civil liberty and a human right. It is submitted that the criticism of the philosophical concept of human rights as a reality centres on the dichotomy between the deontological â€Å"shared ethics† paradigm and the utilitarian approach (Donnelly, 2003, p.7). On the other hand, a â€Å"civil right† whilst related to human rights is completely distinct and specifically relates to a legal right which can be protected and exercised under civil law (Foster, 2008, p.10). As such, a civil right may include a human right but is completely distinct from a human right (Foster, 2008). For example, under the civil law common law jurisdiction in the UK, individuals have rights not to be injured or the victims of negligence or nuisance as part of a civil right (Foster, 2008). Whilst civil rights are exercisable and protected by the state, human rights on the other hand are not automatically exercisable, which in turn has perpetuated a debate as to whether the concept of human rights are in fact a â€Å"fiction† of modern, western liberal democracies (Reed, 2007, p.11). ... Indeed, this very point is the fundamental distinction between a civil right, which is enforceable and exercisable on the one hand in contrast to the individualistic concept of a human right on the other. Furthermore, Donnelly highlights the point that the â€Å"the ability to claim rights, if necessary distinguishes between having a right from simply being the (rights-less) beneficiary of someone else’s obligations. Paradoxically, then â€Å"having† a right is of most value precisely when one does not have the right† (Donnelly, 2003, p.8). It is submitted that this observation is arguably crucial to the practical success of the shared ethics paradigm in terms of the innate morality informing human adherence to basic fundamental rights. Moreover, Donnelly questions the notion of â€Å"shared† rights as in a â€Å"Hobbesian state of nature, rights would never be respected; at best disinterest or self interest would lead duty-bearers not to deny the right h older the object of her right (Donnelly, 2003, p.8). Accordingly, Donnelly’s points highlight the point that whereas ethics refer to the morality of human rights, this can contrast with the actual enforcement of morality as defined by ethical theory, which again highlights the fundamental distinction between an enforceable civil rights on the one hand and human rights on the other. Indeed, Donnelly highlights the point that â€Å"â€Å"Human rights traditionally have been thought of as moral rights of the highest order. They have also become, as we will see in more detail later, international legal rights† (Donnelly, 2003, p.11). As such, this has led to commentators questioning the concept of human rights in international

Arthur Miller’s The Crucible Essay

A crucible is defined as a severe trial or a container in which metals are melted at very high temperatures. Much like how metals mold to a new shape at very high temperatures, people change when severe trials and challenges present themselves. When innocent lives are lost, a person will realize the wrongs and attempt to make things right again. The character John Hale must forget his old teachings and way of life to try to return the town of Salem to a peaceful community. In Arthur Miller’s The Crucible, Reverend John hale transforms from a prideful prosecutor of witches to a humble defender of the accused because of the guilt he experiences over the innocent lives lost during the Salem witch trials. Reverend John Hale arrives in Salem as a prideful man with intentions of persecuting the accused of witchcraft and ridding the town of all evil. Author Arthur Miller says of Hale, â€Å"This is a beloved errand of him; on being called here to ascertain witchcraft he felt the pride of the specialist whose unique knowledge has at last been publicly called for.†(Miller 1252) Miller explains that the reverend has great pride in having the opportunity to show off his skills to rid the town of Salem of witchcraft. His skills in the beginning of the trials come from his books instead of from his own intuitions. Reverend Hale brings many books into the town in order to use their knowledge to persecute the accused. He believes these books to be infallible, and they cause him to believe that he will solve all of the town’s problems with them. Along with the knowledge from his books, he speaks, â€Å"with a tasty love of intellectual pursuit.†(Miller 1257) These stage directions imply that Hale thirsts to be the all-knowing savior of Salem. In his early days at Salem this thirst and his faith in the judicial system guide him to find the suspected witches and deal with them accordingly. The reverend’s early thirst for heroism soon vanishes as the trials pursue and more unexpected people in Salem are accused of witchcraft. Hale travels to the Proctor residence by his accord, without the court’s authority, to learn more about them because Elizabeth Proctor has been mentioned in the court. Learning about the faith life of Elizabeth, Hale starts to question whether all of the accused participate in witchcraft, and doubt of the infallible judicial system starts to arise in him. This doubt grows as he says to Judge Danforth about the trials, â€Å"But is does not follow that everyone accused is part of it.†(Miller 1300) He realizes now that the accused are given no chance to plead innocent without the sure fate of death. Hale sees flaw in the judicial system that he has lived by, and wonders if the many he has condemned to death had no opportunity at all to seek innocence. Knowing that the accused have no chance for survival but through confession of witchcraft, Hale proclaims, â€Å"I have this morning signed away the soul of Rebecca Nurse, Your Honor. I’ll not conceal it, my hand shakes yet as with a wound!†(Miller 1301) He knows that Rebecca has a good life of faith, and she will most definitely be condemned to death by the so called infallible judicial system because of him. Hale shows the feeling of guilt by signing away the life of Goody Nurse, and realizes that he must try to defend the accused because the court will not. Hale loses all motivation to condemn the accused and no longer holds pride in himself or his judicial system. With his motivation to seek out witches now gone, Hale believes many of the accused to be innocent and tries to convince this to the court. He tells Judge Danforth, â€Å"I beg you, stop now before another is condemned! I may not shut my conscience to it no more—private vengeance is working through this testimony! From the beginning this man has struck me true. By my oath to Heaven, I believe him now.†(Miller 1311) His guilt pushes him to defend the accused in front of the judge so that their blood will not be on his hands. Hale knows his association with the courts will result in the loss of innocent lives, and he cannot live with himself knowing this. Knowing now that the court operates with error, he quits it and denounces its proceedings. John Hale no longer want to participate in the court’s murdering of the innocent, and feels guilty for the lives that he has already condemned through the judicial system. Hale now knows that he needs to think for himself rather than following the laws and rules of the judicial system he has lived by his whole life. Working separate from the court, the reverend says, â€Å"I come to do the Devil’s work. I come to counsel Christians they should belie themselves.†(Miller 1325) Hale knows that the only way to rid the guilt from his mind is to convince the accused to lie and confess so that their lives may be saved. He has lost faith in the court system that will condemn innocent lives, and, throwing away his pride, puts out one last effort to save some of the lives he has condemned. His motivation has changed from condemning the witches in the town to attempting to save the accused. As his efforts are about to fail, he drops to his knees and says, â€Å"What profit him to bleed? Shall the dust praise him? Shall the worms declare his truth? Go to him, take his shame away!†(Miller 1334) His efforts to defend the accused fail, and guilt overwhelms him. Reverend John Hale cannot live with the innocent lives he has sentenced to murder and is humbled as the accused are led to their death. â€Å"Cleave to no faith when faith brings blood†(Miller 1326) says a transformed reverend as the Salem witch trials come to an end. Reverend Hale loses not only his faith in the judicial system, but also in the God who he believed to be too perfect to allow these tragic events to happen. He humbles himself because the pride that he once had leads to the death innocent lives in Salem. In The Crucible by Arthur Miller, Reverend John Hale changes from a prideful prosecutor of the witches to a humble defender of the accused because of the guilt that overwhelms him due to the innocent blood shed at his hands during the Salem witch trials.

For the OJT Program  I think they must improve the OJT program because I felt that we were late on having OJT. We have co-OJT stu dents in other schools and they were only 2nd  year and yet they were having an OJT.Benefits gained Problems encountered We are an On the Job Training in a company that focuses on printers so these are the problems that I encountered during our time there. A. Paper Jam If a Kyocera printer has been properly maintained, most paper jam problems are directly related to the paper that is being used. Although this is never the answer anyone wants to hear, it is the most overlooked component and the simplest to remedy. If persistent jamming is the problem, the first test would be to remove all of the paper in the printer and replace it with paper from a new ream, or of a different manufacturer.Check the label on the new package of paper to verify the paper meets Kyocera's specifications. Grain structure is very important. Short grain paper will cause frequent jams. Always use long grain paper. Most paper is manufactured to have a top side and a bottom side. This has something to do with grain structure and the natural curl of paper. Try flipping the supply of paper over. This will test the â€Å"curl† in case the paper was put into the printer upside-down. If all of these methods do not alleviate the problem, the problem is probably mechanical.Refer to the remaining questions on paper jamming. First check the paper and shuffle it properly. Second if the paper is stock inside the printer. Easily open the printer tray and remove the specific paper that is jammed. B. Blurred Letters Check if there still a toner, remove the drum and shake it and you will know if it’s empty or not. Check also at the report from the printer and print the status page. C. Poor print quality Check the drum if it’s dirty or there’s something in there. If the drum is dirty clean it. Check also the printers’ charger; if it’s dirty clean it. D.There’s a line on the text Check first the drum of the printer; it its dirty clean it. Check the Fuser Kit if it does have a scratch or have a defect you must change it. E. Empty Toner The toner is empty. The toner needs to be change. F. Invalid Cartridge The programmed chipset is done. G. Routine Maintenance The Charger in the printer needs to be change. The benefits that I gained from our company. We gained so many benefits as an on the job training in Link Network Solutions Inc. We know how to setup and troubleshoot a high-end printer. A. Response Essay Sample about the Film ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’

Response Essay Sample about the Film ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’ The response essay is a critical review or expert opinion, which is based on an objective professional analysis of a literary or artistic or research work. It should be mentioned that the response essay should include a personal opinion regarding the selected object, for example, a book, a film or an incident. However, the judgment should be reasonable and consistently stated. Moreover, the response essay should be written in the first person in order to convey personal impressions and thoughts by structuring and supporting them by arguments. The structure of the response essay sample includes an introduction with a clear and concise thesis, the main body that consists of the narration and description of the subject, and the conclusion that involves judgment and summary of the entire response essay. The response essay should be objective since the source is evaluated irrespective of the personal views and preferences of the critic from the standpoint of the scientific, practical or artistic significance of the object of analysis. It is necessary to avoid expressively colored vocabulary during the writing of a response essay example since the essay should be easy-to-understand for a wide circle of readers. Moreover, the response essay should include only the main points of the described object without overloading the paper with minor details that do not carry a semantic load. It is also worth noting that the response essay should include arguments that would prove the point of view of the author of the response essay. Even though the response essay should reflect the thoughts of the author, it should also include a separate reference page. It is necessary to write particular facts, for example, the year of the release of a mentioned film or the name of the director that is not a well-known fact and therefore requires citing from a reliable source. Response Essay of the Film ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’ The beginning of the musical path of Queen members was not remarkable as the musicians created a band being poor students that were a usual practice for those years. The Queen became famous due to the unique voice of Freddie Mercury who captured the hearts of many people, which gave rise to the idea to create the film Bohemian Rhapsody after a long time. The film Bohemian Rhapsody tells about one of the most significant musical groups, in particular, about the life path of Freddie Mercury and the other members of Queen who have overcome difficulties including the breakup of the group to achieve the status of world stars. One of the famous compositions of the Queen group, which at one time was undervalued, served as the title of the film. The director of the movie was Bryan Singer, who soon was replaced by another producer, Dexter Fletcher. The Bohemian Rhapsody can be called a reflection of the classic and straightforward path of becoming a hero from obscurity to triumph. The real participants of the Queen band took part in the creation of the film and tried to watch how the producer and actors displayed the reality of the events. The events of the film begin in the seventies in London, when twenty-four-year-old Farrokh Bulsara, who lives with conservative parents, decides to become a musician. He goes to the Smile band concert, where Brian May and Roger Taylor play their show, and at the right moment offers them his candidacy as a new soloist. This meeting becomes the beginning of the existence of a cult group that Farrokh called the Queen. At the same time, he decides to get rid of his real name by taking the pseudonym of Freddie Mercury. From this point, the movie becomes a guide of the life stages of Freddie and other band members. The producer showed the signing of contracts, the process of creating songs, touring dozens of cities, as well as creative discord within the group. A lot of screen time is set aside for Mercurys relationship, which helped reveal his love for a woman named Mary Austin and show Freddie’s acceptance of his homosexuality. During watching this movie, the viewer has a wide range of emotions that leave a pleasant feeling of joy and a drop of sadness. Skillfully chosen actors became a surprise because they were able to convey the character and manners of real musicians. It is worth noting the great game of Rami Malek, who played Freddie Mercury and perfectly reflected the feelings of the protagonist. The actor skillfully repeats all the artists branded movements, as well as correctly copies the facial expressions and Mercurys small gestures. The remaining members of the musical group were also selected according to the apparent similarity with the real artists, which made the film more realistic. As for the costumes, the selection of heroes clothes for both the scenes with performances and everyday life was believable. The costume designers analyzed the live performances of the Queen group by watching videos and tried to recreate the same costumes for each significant event. Proof of this is the final sce ne when the Queen group performed at the Live Aid concert in identical clothes. The costumes and decorations were thought out to the smallest detail, right down to the cups of beer that stood on the piano behind which Freddie Mercury played. It is also worth mentioning the massive number of used soundtracks of the Queen, which helped the audience to imagine themselves at the live rock concert because only original Queen records were presented in the film. The visual range is consistent with the sound of the movie. Throughout the film, the viewer observes a vivid picture with vibrant colors, because the brilliance was a symbol of the seventies and eighties. However, after watching the movie, the viewers begin to think about the reality of particular events. For example, in the film, one can observe the scene when Freddie tells his friends about his incurable disease right before the concert on Live Aid, even though the public was informed about the singer’s illness only a few years after this performance. Moreover, not many Queen and Freddie Mercury’s fans were pleased with this film as they considered that many facts from the life of musicians were distorted. Analyzing all the events that are displayed in the movie, one can conclude that this film was shot for those people who had little interest in the musical creativity of the Queen group and Freddie Mercury himself. The key goal of the moviemakers was to introduce the legendary singer to the new generation. In conclusion, it is important to say that the directors were able to convey the spirit of the seventies and eighties accurately. Moreover, the acting of the main actors outshined all the flaws that were caused by some distorted events. Despite some nuances, the Bohemian Rhapsody movie caused a resonance among the public due to personal moments from the life of Freddie and his friends that were transmitted with trepidation and warmth that, in addition to the original soundtracks, gave the world a new legendary film. Post-writing Tips The example of a response essay consists of an introduction with a clear and reasoned thesis, the main body with a detailed description of the film and arguments in support of the opinion and conclusion. In the above example, one can see how the author expresses the personal opinion by supporting it with facts taken from the movie. Moreover, the author goes deeper into the details of the personal emotions that occurred during watching, which helps the reader to feel some vital moments of the film. Reading the response essay example, one can observe that the author describes the main details of the movie that form personal attitude and impression. The author does not overload the response essay with small details but tries to describe the plot of the film as clearly as possible and explain the main points in order not to confuse the reader who probably did not see the specified movie. It is also worth noting that the author tried to acquaint the reader with the film by including infor mation about the director by using a reliable source for citation. The authors suggestions are structured and not filled with a colored vocabulary so that the response is comprehensible to a wide range of readers. The author of the example of the response essay does not seek to criticize the play of actors or the work of the director but gives strong arguments in support of the personal statements. The above response essay tips will help to structure any response essay whether it is a personal reflection on a book, film, picture or any other incident. Following the above recommendations, one needs to remember about the correctness of the grammar, and the vocabulary used to ensure the essay is not overloaded with unnecessary information. When writing a response essay, it is vital to remember the fact that the author needs to express only a personal opinion and impression regarding the chosen object without unreasonable criticism. Nutrition and Dietetics - Essay Example In doing this, the project coordinator naturally outlines the importance of the project within the society. Additionally, it is important to explain the relationship between the various stakeholders and their environment. The environment will influence the nature of their operations and the type of project designed in this case. It thus becomes important to evaluate and discuss the nature of the of the environment and the effects of human behaviors and their developments in order to determine the best and most cost effective means of preventing diabetes from the target audience. The human ecological theory provides an effective framework upon which to investigate the relationship between humans and their environments thus making the design and execution of the plan possible. Medical professionals such as doctors are directly involved with the design and the planning of the project. They understand the factors that lead to the prevalence of the disease and are equally capable of devis ing effective treatments. Their involvement in the project is therefore basic since they will formulate and implement the daily operational plans. Teachers on the other hand will carry out civic education. They will organize mobile education centers from where they will interact with their target audience and teach them on the ways of preventing the prevalence of the disease. They will therefore liaise with the doctors and carry out consultative sessions in which the teachers provide best prevention methods as formulated and advised by the medical professionals. This way, the entire project becomes realistic as each party relies on the other for the success of the entire project (Willett, 1998). The high-risk adults are the audience of the project; they will constitute the targeted public among which the civic education, diagnosis and treatment program will take place. The medical professionals and the teachers will formulate effective plans of actions that best address the issues t hat either affect or influence the population’s susceptibility to the disease. The project will therefore involve identifying the target audience, formulating effective programs that will befit the special group that constitute the audience and finally carrying out the civic education. To carry out the above activities effectively, the project coordinator will liaise with the local authority whose support is relevant for the success of the project. Additionally, the project will incorporate medical testing as a way of investigating the prevalence of the type 2 diabetes among the targeted population. In analyzing the relationship among the different stakeholders in the project, the human ecological theory provides five environmental systems with which humans interact. The theory provides community psychologists with an effective platform to analyze and understand human interactions both among themselves and with their societies. Among the five is microsystem, which will have d irect relevance in the project. Microsystem refers to the groups and institutions in the society directly relevant in a child’s development. Such include schools, peers, religious institutions and neighborhood. The project will consider the prevalence of the same and their relations to the targeted audience. Such social features as peers and neighborhood will help the medical profe

Those recognitions and awards make the corporation more valuable and that value of the company and their name has marketing importance that give them staying power for years to come (Target, 2012). Stakeholders are groups of people who have an interest in a company or business organization. Internal stakeholders are those members of the business organization such as owners, managers, staffs, and employees. However, external stakeholders are not part of the company such as customers, suppliers, community, and government. Every internal stakeholder has their own needs and hoping that the company can provide or fulfill their need. For many owners, their business in their biggest asset and owner will protect it to secure his/her financial future. For bigger corporation like Target, they make sure they follow the national and local law to avoid lawsuit and bad publicity. Shareholder is an individual that own shares of stock in the company therefore they have right to vote on decision about the organization. Shareholder primary need is to increase the value of their stocks and improve their value in the company by buying more stocks to have bigger influence on the decision within the company. Managers and employees needs are almost the same. They need job security with benefits, good pay, health insurance, and flexibility. In addition, the most important needs for all internal stakeholders is profit because this is the driving force that control the future of the company and can provide all of the them their personal needs. External stakeholder needs are different from the internal stakeholder since internal stakeholder is the one providing and fulfilling to satisfy external stakeholder needs. Customers are the most important stakeholders because they are the only reason that we have business like Target Corporation. Customers have so many needs that managers and employees trying to provide to them as much as they can. Customer needs are friendly representative, discount prices, quality of products, professionalism, and outstanding customer services. Supplier most important needs are to have a good business relationship with the corporations because it gives them stability on their own organization. Community needs is to improve their own community for creating job, charity organization and by increasing the value of their community. Target Corporation can provide it to them since they can create thousands of jobs in the community and donating funds to different organizations within local communities. Government needs from Target Corporation is for them to support the community by providing jobs, donations to charities and most of all is for the company to follow the government policies and regulations. Target Corporation in the most parts fulfilled most if not all of the stakeholder needs. Target Corporation is one of the biggest and successful companies in United States so the owners and shareholders needs of profits, stability, and financial security are easily meets. For managers and employees, the company provided them flexibility, health benefits, retirement plan, life insurance, vacation, discount such as 10% for member and childcare, disability coverage, training and development resources, career planning and option for group legal plan. For community stakeholder, Target Corporation provided 5% of Target’s profit to local communities. They have partnership with community organization such as Diversity Best Practices, The Executive Leadership Council, Hispanic Association on Corporate Responsibility and NAACP. In addition, they encouraged their team member to volunteer their time, expertise, and talents to support the community projects. For government stakeholder, Target Corporation has a strong partnership with Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) to support disaster efforts. They also have safety and preparedness partnership to other government service such as Department of Justice, Department of Homeland Security, and American Red Cross. For supplier stakeholder, they actively engage with diverse supplier to support all section of the company. In addition, they develop diverse supplier relationships with Women’s Business Enterprise National Council, United States Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, N ational Minority Supplier Development Council, National Gay and Lesbian Chamber of Commerce, and National Veteran Owned Business Association. For customer who is the most important stakeholder, Target Corporation provides them quality products, outstanding service, competitive price, number of selection, best values, and convenience shopping. For the most part, Target Corporation meets stakeholder needs. I am sure they are few people think that their needs are not met or satisfied the way they want it but you cannot satisfy everybody. The important thing is Target Corporation continues to look on how they can improve to support their stakeholder. They continue to launch customer satisfaction survey, ask their employees, and work with the government and communities to improve their company relationship with stakeholders and this is how Target Corporation can fulfill the need of stakeholder. Target Corporation continues to make improvements to remain the number two retailer stores in the country. Target financial performances are doing great and continue to progress every year. Reports show Target Corporation’s revenue stay in an upward trend regardless of the world’s economy. Additionally, reports also show sales increasing in an upward trend year to year (Target, 2012). By reviewing Target Corporation financial report, I learned that this company should continue to improve for the next five year. Target Corporation bought the leaseholds for up to 220 stores in Canada for their first international expansion. This expansion will improve their sales, revenue and can help them compete with their main competitors: Walmart and Costco. The only concern for Target Corporation is their competition with Walmart and Costco since both company make bigger net sales the last four years. Target Corporation management can use their financial report to compare them with Walmart and Costco to analyze the best way to compete with them. On comparing Target, Walmart, and Costco, Walmart is the largest retailer in the country and it generated more than three time s the combined revenue of both Target and Costco. See figure 1 for Target Corporation, figure 2 for Walmart Corporation, and figure 3 for Costco Corporation’s historical financial reports. Target Corporation technologies compare to Walmart and Costco is about the same. I do not see any advantages between these three retailers concerning technologies. This globalization influenced the company business strategies since Costco and Walmart are having success outside the country. Target Corporation finally expanded internationally due to their main competitor, and to compete with them, they have to expand outside the country. Benchmarking is a process of comparing an organization performance to other organization using objective and subjective criteria. The process compares organizations to those in the industry reviewing its status to use as standard in their own company. Target, Walmart and Costco are three of the top retailers in industries in best practices, operational processes and procedures, and products ranked by reputable magazine and community organization every year. Being ranked in world’s most admired companies, top 50 companies for diversity, America’s most reputable companies, and many more recognition demonstrated that thi s three companies are the benchmark for their industry. The recent economic trends are influencing the business from traversing from enormous changes in global politics to the blasting existence of social media and online technology into our everyday lives. Through all of this, nevertheless, business must go on, but it is not business as usual. The importance of customer has never more important than it is today. With the influx of computer technology, customer worldwide knows what is accessible in the market to buy and how to locate it online at the lowest cost. Through this power has come the capability to form markets, and express the products they want. Advertisements, information sharing, and recognizing the importance of personalized search were some of the strategies the company has used for adapting to changing markets. With the rise of Internet and a population that gradually analyses world travel as just another part of life, online search become the most powerful tool (McClimans, 2011). Target Corporation has implemented tactics to achieve their strategic goals by going international and opening new stores (CityTarget) aimed at the urban market. Target Corporations procured the leaseholds for up to 220 stores in Canada and CityTarget are established to open in Chicago, Seattle, New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Portland, Oregon, Puerto Rico, and Charlotte (Target, 2012). The tactics Target used by expanding their corporation will help them compete with their competitors to meet the consumers demand. Target Corporation can also implement pricing and marketing strategy to achieve their strategic goals. Pricing strategy does not always means lowering price to gain industry dominance, but that is the obvious choice. Using low price tactics presenting rebates, special sales and discount with inexpensive financing and delayed payment. Marketing strategy seeks to target specific consumers with messages that are most likely to draw their attention. It involves seasonal advertising and special promotions as tactics to achieve their goals (Duff, 2012). The role of human resource management plays in helping the company achieve its business goals has change from the conventional hire and fire to a planned manager at the table with operations, finance, and other business focuses that are not centers of profits for the company. Human resource must ensure that its practice, processes, and policies supplement the organizational strategies. Human resource management should understand the business strategy by developing mission statement that relate to the employees, conduct a SWOT analysis, develop consequences and solutions, and evaluation of action plans. Some of the human resource management functions are to handle rewards and compensation certain roles and positions in order to boost performance echelons. Recruitment is another important mission including the selection and retention of employees. Additionally, human resource management balancing the employees and organizations expectations to associated business success and to satisfied employees needs (King, 2012). Target Corporations is one of the biggest, reputable and profitable company in United States so if I have the opportunity to invest with them, I will without hesitation. Target Corporation continues to rise and make significant profits year after year. Figure 1 shows Target’s financial history for the last five years and by looking at it, the trends will likely continue to do well in the future. In conclusion, Target is the second largest discount retailer in the country, second only to Walmart. It has proven its successfulness through the number of stores domestic and internationally, and through the figures of net sales, net income, and free cash flow. Target Corporation logo is recognize by over ninety-seven percent of consumers in United States. In addition, Target Corporation is devoted to promoting diversity and committed to community by donating five percent of profits to charities while encouraging their employees to volunteer in the community projects. Target Corporation continues to expand by going internationally and opening new stores CityTarget in urban areas. Target is growing and bringing new customers as it expands. Target Corporation understands their markets, and this giving them the edge to grow and compete with Walmart in the future. References Bloomberg BusinessWeek. (2012). Civics lesson.
