219100 Human Behaviour in Hospitality Organisations Semester 2, 2010 Task 1 Introduction In this essay I will explore the impact of ethnical diversity in the workplace. Perspective will be provided by a critical reflection on my own live on of an unpleasant situation within a foreign environment. I will illustrate the need for man come onrs in the service pains to acknowledge and support pagan diversity. Management considerations in visualize to cultural diversity in the workplace are examined including immigration, counterweight of diverse groups, power distance, collectivism and individualistic environments. I reckon at how cultural diversity can be an utility for an organisation. Ethical concerns are talllighted and strategies are discussed to prevent or minimise conflict. The essay then examines Reynolds & Valentines (2004) research on high and low context communication as well as some examples from New Zea knowledge domains culture. This essay also recognises cultural differences in communication, service style and cultural expectation of the client dictating how and in what style they will be served. Reflections on my experiences in Greece I travelled through Greece in 1991 at the age of 25.
