As downloads nudge aside CDs as the preferred focus to buy music, artists who once had issues with online sales are getting on the digital bandwagon.
The watershed digital-holdout moment was The Beatles catalog hitting iTunes fail fall, selling 5 million tracks in the first dickens months alone. Earlier this month, Aerosmith added its 1973-1987 hit parade to Apples store.



Bob Segers vinyl-era classics Live green goddess and Nine Tonight went digital last week and pretend notched 231,000 downloads.
Since January, digital album sales have surged 19% over the same period in 2010, according to Nielsen SoundScan.
Artists are coming to the conclusion that this is where (sales) are heading, says Jay Cooper, an entertainment lawyer with Greenberg Traurig in Los Angeles whose clients include Katy Perry and Sheryl Crow. But some, like AC/DC, are til now holding back for either artistic or fiscal reasons.
