There argon many short stories that often role a kindred bag. The Ones Who Walk Away from Omelas by Ursula K. LeGuin and the short written report cor adeptted The draught by Shirley Jackson, share a similar theme I think represented very well in both stories. Both stories are about the overall delight of the majority of the hoi polloi living in the towns. But this merriment doesnt come without capitulate and in both stories a major sacrifice has to happen for the overall happiness of the corporation to take place. The two short stories similar theme they share is, accepting and practicing a Utilitarian view. Because both stories sacrifice one for the greater good of others, is Utilitarian. I think that LeGuins Omelas shell represents the Utilitarian theme because in order for the happiness to be in the city, they need to imprison an innocent child in a cellar for its entire animateness. While in The Lottery, they draw names for the unlucky one to total lapidate to death for the greater good of the community.
LeGuins Omelas starts out with the causality letting you imagine a perfect city. She lets you decide what it takes to piddle a perfect city but she lets you know that in that location is no guilt or any bad feelings of that clear up because of the town secret.
