The Vikings
In 793 AD, a peaceful monastery in the northeastern England called Lindisfarne was bru overblowny round outed by strange new invaders (The Viking, 2000 ). These warriors were described as grubby eyed barbarians in horned helmet and believed to have been Norwegians who came from the North Sea. The attack was marked the beginning of the Viking Age. Just who and what atomic number 18 these Vikings? What is their main determination of attacking the monastery of Lindisfarne? In this essay, I will discuss that the Vikings are not a bleed of quite a little but a band of different race with the purpose of plundering gratis(p) people to cause fear, to search for wealth, and to establish a colony. These old-fashioned pirates, as described by Tacitus, might have originated from their German tribe ancestors called the Suiones from the first century (Reilly 254). He said they were tall and strong men in weird looking ships with a prow at both ends. These boats have no sails and commonly have slaves riding with them in the oceans and rivers looking for wealth.
Vikings run of terrors started between eight and eleventh century (Reilly 254). Village settlements from Ireland to Russia were among the victims to these European warriors.
Out of the north an evil shall break forth, as warned by prophet Jeremiah to the monks of Lindisfarne monastery (Reilly 254). During the attack, the Vikings slaughtered priests and stole treasures from the monastery. Such attack would take fear to common people. Who would have thought of attacking a man of a church and to make matters worse, they were slain in the house of God. I do not believe that it matters what race or nationality the victims are, but this act of sacrilege would surely append felling of extreme dislike against those who commit the aggression.
