2.A Modest Proposal is a persuasive, satirical piece. The main purpose of this condition is to coax the reader to side with the idea of selling and prep children in Ireland. The article uses similes, animalistic imagery, comparing poor, glut children to animals who are sold, cooked, and eaten as not to be wasted in such a poor situation. Of course, the authors proposal is far from modest, and throughout his satirical proposal he backs up his claims with numerical data and appeals to human logic.
